How to Prepare Your Cacao

There are two approaches to making your cacao. You can heat the liquid and add the cacao or you can make a paste with the cacao and add the liquid. Below we outline both. Find your own preference.

Chop it.

We supply our cacao in block form. So you need to chop it first. Just as much as you need, and only using a sharp knife. Like you are shaving it off.

We choose to leave our cacao in block form because it reduces the angry negative energy that a processor would add to it. It also means the raw cacao has only been handled by the farmers on the sacred land. We are the only others to hold the product and that is just a wrapped block. Less interference means more intention and sacredness.

Heat the milk or water.

Add your desired amount of milk or water to the pan and heat through on a medium to low temperature. Ensure you do not let it boil.

Add a small amount of milk or water to the cacao.

Put all the cacao in the pan and a bit of milk or water. Just enough to melt the cacao and make a paste. Ensure it doesn’t boil by adding a little more liquid to cool it down. But not too much to stop the melting.

Add the cacao and ingredients.

Add the cacao and all the ingredients you want to the warmed milk. Whisk until combined and heat through for a couple of minutes.

Add the other ingredients and the rest of the liquid.

Add the other ingredients to the paste and whisk to combine. Then add the rest of the liquid and heat through for a couple of minutes.

Enjoy it.

Pour it into your favourite mug. Find a quiet space to reflect. Hold the cup in your hands and give thanks to the farmers that worked tirelessly to bring you this sacred plant medicine. Thank Lady Cacao and Mother Earth for coming together for you at this time. Set yourself an intention and blow it onto the cacao. Now take a sip and reflect.
